Intro to engineering is taught by Mr.Sieg in room S-5. I took this class in the spring semester of the 2020-2021 school year at South Western Highschool. In this class, We first looked at lab safety and how to use the lab equipment safely and effectively. After looking at lab safety, we then moved into our first unit which was focused on design and problem-solving. Our first unit consisted of the basics of design, visualization, and solid modeling, and the fundamentals of C.A.D.We then moved into our second unit which was focused on assembly design. In our second unit, we covered how to put items together in C.A.D, how to take them apart and interpret them as individual pieces, and we have one more section to still cover in this unit that we haven't done yet. This class is very challenging and can be very difficult if you do not manage your time correctly, however, I would most certainly recommend it to anyone who asks. I enjoyed this class compared to most because it teaches you skills that you can only develop from this class. This class has taught me many good problem-solving skills, C.A.D skills, and overall thinking methods that will help me in life. This course also challenges you to apply all levels of STEM at all points throughout the course. I have learned a lot in this course. This course has absolutely bettered my skills in sketching,3D modeling, problem-solving, applying STEM, and many more important life skills that can really only be developed in an engineering course.
